About Sarah Kasper

Sarah Kasper Sarah Kasper is a life-long Metro Detroit native. The small community of Romeo, Michigan is currently her home and she resides there with her husband and their two children. Sarah’s art is primarily self-taught through daily practice, but she received some formal education in both grade school and community college. There was a hiatus from this passion when her two children were born; however, the love of art, nature, and painting never escaped her and she frequently dreamt of picking up her brush again. Her only greater passion is her family, so she is grateful to have a home studio where she can practice and remain inspired by her surroundings. Sarah is also inspired by nature and what it invokes in her heart. Her work is full of color and is loosely abstract, but always leaves the integrity of the subject intact. Conveying emotion through her use of color and bold lines, Sarah illustrates how she views nature’s moments. The world within her memories of scenic family road trips is also translated onto her canvases. Other inspiration and muses come from her extensive flower and vegetable gardens. The moment the cold Michigan ground begins to thaw after winter it is not uncommon to find her elbow deep in the garden soil. Building these gardens provides an additional means to create beauty in the world. Sarah strives to leave messages of emotion within her artwork, and she experiences that same feeling while planting seeds and tending to plants.   The Kasper home is comprised of many inspirational spaces for Sarah’s mind to absorb many of the wonders the world shares with us – it is her sanctuary. Trees and blooms are her main subject matter, but the Great Lakes are a lifelong love that is remembered in her waterscapes. She and her family frequently spend time “Up-north” on Lake Huron. The water to the east and the trees to the west are captured in one amazing place. Cherished memories are shared within these pieces, and many expose a hazy, dreamlike quality. Sarah’s recent focus on trees is due to their symbolism, uniqueness, and resilience, which is a tie to family that resonates within her and is translated in to her work.
